Julee McDonagh

Dr Julee McDonagh is a Registered Nurse with >10 years of clinical experience in cardiology settings and a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Chronic and Complex Care Research, a collaborative clinical research centre between the University of Wollongong and Western Sydney Local Health District. She is also a proud descendant of the Cabrogal clan of the Darug First Nations people.

Dr McDonagh’s research program focuses on frailty and cardiovascular disease, including how best to assess for and manage frailty in older adults with cardiovascular disease and other comorbid conditions. She has published extensively on frailty and cardiovascular disease and has expertise in undertaking clinical research projects, patient-reported outcomes research, and quantitative methods. She has been awarded over $2 million in competitive research funding as Chief Investigator (>$1.1 million as CIA), including NHMRC, NSW Health OHMR and MRFF.

Julee is an Editorial Fellow of the Heart, Lung and Circulation Journal, a current member of the Australian College of Nursing, the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives, the Emerging Leader Committee of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance, and an Executive Committee member of the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
