Community in shock after suspected murder of pregnant aged care nurse

Locals from the Perth suburb of Dayton are still in shock as the body of a pregnant  36-year-old woman was found dead in what police are calling suspicious circumstances.

The body of aged care nurse Janet Dweh was discovered by a family member on Monday night.

A forensic crime scene was established at the home on Tuesday morning as distraught family members and friends gathered outside.

Ms Dweh worked at the Marangaroo aged care home Villa Terenzio and it is believed that she had only recently left work to go on maternity leave.

“We are heartbroken as a community,” a spokesperson from Villa Terenzio said.

“She was a dedicated nurse who was a loved and cherished colleague and a friend to so many people.”

Family and friends describe Ms Dweh as a peaceful person and revealed that the mother of four fled the war in Liberia and spent years in a Nigerian refugee camp before arriving in Australia and forging a career as a loved and respected aged care nurse.

Police are currently treating Ms Dweh’s death as suspicious and they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Mataro Drive area of Dayton between 10am on Saturday and 6pm on Monday to contact police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
