Elderly man charged with alleged sexual touching while visiting aged care home

An 80-year-old man has been charged by police after allegedly inappropriately touching a woman while visiting an aged care home in Newcastle, NSW, last month.

The man, whose name cannot be revealed, was arrested in Newcastle on March 27, just one day after the alleged incident occurred.

In a police statement provided to the Newcastle Herald, it’s believed he was visiting an aged care home in the suburb of Warabrook when “a woman was approached and allegedly inappropriately touched by a man” around midday on the 26th.

Local police wasted no time in following up and charged him with aggravated sexual touching of another person.

The senior has been granted bail but will face the Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday, April 18.
