The poo cake that thrilled an aged care home manager

There’s not too many people who would love a cake covered in poo for their 40th. However, for one care home manager, that was exactly what happened, and from the looks of it, she was thrilled.

Louise Lambert is the manager of Ashcombe House in Basingstoke, UK. For her birthday, staff members decided to commemorate the occasion with a cake decorated as a Bristol Stool Chart, because Louise is always talking about poo.

Made with love by the care home chef, Vicky Holloway, the cake was iced to feature the chart, 3D renderings of poo samples and roll of used toilet paper.

“It really was an amazing day and surprise. The cake was fantastic,” said Michelle Martin, a colleague of Louise’s who helped organise the surprise.

“It’s because she’s obsessed with bowel movements and making sure the residents are regular. They then line it up what number is it [on the scale].

“That’s a big issue in care homes – to make sure people are going and, if they aren’t, we have to ask why not,” she said.

The cake, which would no doubt be off putting for many people, was an overwhelming success with the birthday girl.

“I have never been more shocked and surprised. The residents and staff have done an amazing job,” said Louise.

“It is wonderful to be able to celebrate my big birthday with my residents who love life and enjoy having fun. It’s a birthday I will never forget!”
