Aged care worker faces 110 fraud charges after allegedly defrauding elderly residents

A 23-year-old woman has been accused of defrauding elderly residents at a Rothwell aged care facility, with police laying more than 100 charges against her.

Detectives allege the Margate woman accessed banking details belonging to four residents during her time working at the facility, later using the information to make personal purchases between October 2024 and June 2025.

The Redcliffe Criminal Investigation Branch has charged her with 110 counts of fraud. She also faces one charge of entering a dwelling with intent to commit an offence and another of obtaining identification information.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lisa Elkins said the investigation uncovered “a web of online and in-person purchases”.

“I thank the victims and their [families] for reporting suspicious banking activity and purchases,” Detective Senior Sergeant Elkins said.

“Taking advantage of the elderly members in our community will not be tolerated.”

The woman is due to appear before the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on 24 September.
