An employee from a Sydney aged care facility has been charged with sexually assaulting several elderly residents and recording the abuse, which she later shared with her partner.
The 47-year-old woman, named Tracy Leah Salmon, was arrested following an investigation by NSW Police’s Sex Crimes Squad. She is accused of assaulting seven residents at the Carrington Care facility in Grasmere, located in Sydney’s south-west.
Salmon is alleged to have recorded the assaults, which took place between 4 and 27 August 2024, involving five men and two women. Police seized her phone during the investigation and discovered videos of the abuse, as well as unrelated bestiality material.
According to police, the woman also shared these videos with her 54-year-old partner, Troy Campbell, who was arrested on charges related to possessing and distributing bestiality material.
Salmon faces multiple charges, including four counts of aggravated sexual assault, 11 counts of aggravated sexual touching, and several counts of recording and distributing intimate images without consent.
She has been refused bail and will appear in court shortly. Campbell was also charged with possessing and disseminating bestiality material and was granted bail to face court in June.
The aged care provider, Carrington Care, expressed shock and dismay upon learning of the allegations. Chief Executive Mark Tutt confirmed that Salmon ceased working at the facility in November 2024, prior to the investigation.
He assured the public that the organisation is cooperating fully with police and is providing ongoing support to the affected families. Tutt stated that a comprehensive internal review would be conducted to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents.

I’m a huge believer in cameras cameras cameras everywhere there are vulnerable people. Personal care and bathroom areas can still have the voice on and camera off when necessary.
As a retired Aged Care and Disability Community Carer, I am truly disgusted and even distraught knowing about this crime.
This is absolutely Disgusting. Justice will be carried out I am sure. Do feel for the victims. Myself am 86 fortunate enough to still be very capable of being in my own home and taking care of myself. I did work in a Aged Care home for 17 years doing cleaning .I got very close to my residents, , lost count of the funerals I attended with respect for them.
I can honestly say in all the years I never witnessed any sort of abuse or unkindness
towards my Part of the home. Worked same area for 17 years.
I know this was many years ago, I retired in 1994 . There are many caring workers in this area of work , we must be careful not to Tar them All with same brush.

This highlights the need for thorough reference checking and mandatory past employment information gathering prior to employment.
The need also for a regulatory body to be enforced for all hands on care workers as with Enrolled and Registered Nurses.
This incident is probably not a one off by this person in only this care
facility.
I hope psychiatric treatment is mandatory for this woman and her boyfriend not just fines and jail time. There a serious psych issues here that could be treated. This is sick unthinkable behaviour.
These two should be jailed for the rest of their lives. Preying on the most vulnerable people in the community for their own depraved pleasure. I cannot comprehend this sick and twisted act.
This is another case that highlights the urgency of achieving co-ordination across all registration agencies, Federal, State, Territories, Care Workers, Medical Practitioners, Allied Health, Nursing, Child Care, Schools, Corrective Services and wherever vulnerable people are located.
I know it seems a big task, but abuse, neglect and violence continues without vigilance and certainty of punishment.
