Newly Crowned Ms World 2018 Also Claims Title of Australia’s Oldest Beauty Queen

Robyn Canner has claimed the title of Australia’s oldest beauty queen from Ms Earth Australia 2017 Suzi Dent after being crowned Ms World 2018 in Seattle.

Ms Canner, 60, has proven age is but a number yet again by beating out beauties from 22 countries, aged 26-plus.

Contestants were judged on fitness wear, evening gown, an interview and panel question.

“I was up against a lot of younger women and won – so it’s one more for the oldies,” said Robyn.

“There is no stigma attached to age anymore. And no bitchiness – everyone helped each other out.”

Robyn’s prizes included a crystal crown and USD$5000.

Like Suzi Dent before her, Robyn’s positive ageing mindset is a huge influence on her ability to do what she does. Robyn is incredibly proud to be the first 60-year-young Ms World, and believes age is a state-of-mind rather than a life-defining figure.

Robyn, a massage therapist who has operated her home business for the past 33 years, believes that women and men age themselves out of life by developing negative connotations toward ageing.

At 60, Robyn has never felt more alive and wants to encourage others to embrace the inevitable! Robyn’s fearless mindset is powerfully inspiring, and she is determined to “start a conversation” about positive ageing.

“I want to help other women celebrate and embrace being over 50,” said Robyn. “I am hoping to inspire women to stop paying attention to their age number, and be fearless about making changes in their lives, and to celebrate their life experiences and knowledge.”

While the glamour of wearing frocks and high heels has brought excitement to Robyn’s life, her genuine passion is in helping others, and the Ms World 2018 pageant has provided a platform for Robyn to spread awareness.

Robyn’s son, 22, died of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma seven years ago, and she has been passionate about doing cancer charity work since.

“Somehow I found pageantry and then found myself on World Class Beauty Queen magazine covers in the US and Europe,” she said. “It was inspiring and was character-building – it encouraged me to keep going.”
