Spurring each other on, Great-Grandfather and baby use walkers in unison

It’s easy to understand why a TikTok video of a baby and great-grandfather using walkers in unison has gone viral.

The precious video of the two making their way down a hallway has racked up 2 million views and attracted 250,000 likes as of last Tuesday.

The owner of the TikTok account, @amoose87, whose real name is Angela, posted the video with the caption, “Baby and great-grandfather using their walkers. 96 1/2 years apart – the beginning and end of life. #greatgrandfather #babiesoftiktok #sweetmoments.”

The short clip begins with the little one walking assisted by their play walker and their great-grandfather making use of his own walker as they slowly meander down a hallway.

The sweet scene has drawn the attention of others behind them, all captured by the TikTok filmer from the front.

Likely very satisfied with their walking abilities, the baby makes a noise, to which their great-grandfather conversationally stops to reply, “Yeah”, nodding his head.

The baby also stops for a breather, taking in its surroundings and great-grandad encourages, “You’re doing a good job today.”

The happy duo pick up the walk down the hallway as a woman, perhaps the child’s mother, comes forward from behind to let the baby know they’re “coming”.

Seemingly very acquainted with polite etiquette, the baby stops, looks and waits before the video then ends.

According to the US agency, CDC, data from their National Vital Statistics System highlights the average life expectancy in the US is around 77 years of age as of 2020.

This is a decrease of 1.8 years from 2019. Statistics from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare shows that Australia fares higher with an average life expectancy of 82.8 years.

People from around the world showed their appreciation and support for the wholesome video of the two family members sharing a moment. However, some found their reactions to be layered with happy and sad mixed together.

Another vocalised their happiness at the creator recording the moment for the baby to see later. “So beautiful and sad at the same time,” they also said.

Particularly in these tough times, videos such as this one have brought people together to share in the positive messages. A viewer called the touching scenes, “so sweet,” adding, “wow, I’m crying!”

One user on TikTok shared their own insight into the moment between the child and their great-grandfather, saying, “Omg just a still photo of the two of them looking at each other is gonna make him cry in 20 years.”

A TikToker suggested that the pair were “fortunate to have had this moment”.

Another viewer observed that it is obvious the great-grandfather “is so happy to be with lil man.”

“It’s crazy to actually visualize that at one point, grandpa was just a little baby boy too,” another user highlighted.

Still more others commented saying the video had “treasured moments,” and “I’m not crying, you’re crying.”

Many were moved by the moment the two family members shared looking into each other’s eyes, calling it “priceless”.

After months of the world struggling through the pandemic, lovely moments as shown in the video show why one viewer said this content was their “favorite TikTok,” declaring it was, “absolutely precious and perfect”.
