Teen thugs terrorise elderly couple at knifepoint in motel last night

An elderly couple in their 70s has been left traumatised after being robbed and terrorised at knifepoint in a terrifying home invasion at a Moree motel in the early hours of this morning.

According to 2GB radio, a group of young offenders broke into the couple’s motel room at around 2:00 am, kicking in the door before holding a knife to their throats.

The victims, both aged 74, were forced to hand over their personal belongings, including wallets and car keys. The offenders then fled the scene in the couple’s car, crashing through the motel’s fence as they made their getaway.

Shockingly, the couple had only purchased the vehicle four weeks ago as part of their retirement plans.

Speaking to 2GB radio, the motel owner expressed her distress over the incident, saying, “I feel sick thinking about it. I feel terrible because I feel like I’m responsible for these people.” She also voiced frustration with the justice system, stating that while police do their job, “the courts just let these mongrels go.”

This latest attack is yet another example of the escalating crime crisis gripping regional New South Wales, with Moree seeing a disturbing rise in similar incidents. Just hours later, police arrested a 31-year-old man in relation to multiple vehicle thefts across the region.

The violent attack has left the elderly victims deeply shaken, with fears that the psychological scars will last a lifetime. “Yes, they’ve survived. No, they were not injured or hospitalised. But you have some young thugs hold a knife to your throat in the middle of the night, and you tell me what life is like the next day and the next week,” a 2GB reporter said.

In response to the surge in crime, the NSW Government and police force have announced the deployment of 80 additional officers to regional areas. However, for the victims of this horrifying attack, these reinforcements come too late.

Police have yet to release an official statement on the incident.

  1. What a distressing story. I don’t find it “shocking” that the car was only bought 4 weeks ago ?
