Two men in NSW die shortly after receiving COVID-19 vaccinations

Covid-19 vaccine

The deaths of two men in NSW are being investigated after they both died soon after receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations.

Though no links to the vaccine have been established at this point, the Therapeutic Good Administration has launched an investigation.

A 55-year-old man died in Tamworth due to blood clots in his lungs eight days after receiving the vaccine. It is not clear which vaccine he took, 9News has reported.

The family of the Tamworth man said he was an “otherwise fit and healthy man”.

According to The Northern Daily Leader, the man’s family do not blame the vaccine, but they are in shock.

The second death was a 71-year-old man who died in Sydney after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The news comes after Australia hit a significant milestone in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, reaching 2 million doses on April 28.

Neither NSW Health or the TGA have made public comments on these cases.

However, the TGA has said, “The reporting of an adverse event to TGA post vaccination does not mean the event was caused by the vaccination.

“All reports to the TGA of death following vaccination are reviewed to assess the likelihood that the vaccine contributed to the event or medical condition that lead (sic) to a fatal outcome.”

The TGA’s review will be performed by clinical staff who will gather relevant clinical information about the patients’ medical history, risk factors and medications being taken at the time of vaccination. Pathology tests and clinical notes will also be examined.
