Vasey RSL Care has been awarded a Veterans Home Care (VHC) contract with the Federal Government to continue to “Serve Those Who Served” at home across Melbourne’s metropolitan region.

The VHC program provides essential home care services for the health, well-being and independence of eligible veterans and their families, encompassing a range of support, including domestic help, personal care, respite care, home and garden maintenance and lawn mowing.

Glen Iris residents Leonie, 84, and Geoffrey, 87, Christopherson said that staying in their own home meant everything to them.

“We spent our life travelling around for Geoff’s army service, so when we settled in Glen Iris, we wanted to stay here for good,” Ms Christopherson said.

With Vasey RSL Care’s assistance, the Christophersons are now able to maintain their independence and quality home life with a support program in place and services organised for them by the organisation.

Rich Davey, General Manager Community Services at Vasey RSL Care, who oversees the management of the organisation’s provision of home care said, “ It makes sense for us to serve this community on behalf of Government and we look forward to assisting these veterans to live comfortably and remain at home in their older years.”

Janna Voloshin, Chief Executive Officer at Vasey RSL Care, expressed the organisation’s delight at becoming a VHC provider and being awarded this contract.

“We are one of Victoria’s most experienced providers of accommodation and services to the veteran community and this service is perfectly aligned with our Mission to Serve Those Who Served,” she said.

Eligibility for the VHC program is limited to those requiring low levels of care, and it is not intended for individuals in need of high or complex care.
