89-year-old man gets stood-up on first date in 30 years

An 89-year-old grandfather has been overwhelmed with support from the general public after filming himself getting prepared for a date and arriving at the restaurant, only to be stood up and left to dine alone.

Earlier this month, a TikToker by the name of GrandadJoe shared a video of himself staring into the mirror and fixing his hair as he prepared to embark upon his first date in over 30 years.

The footage then cuts and GrandadJoe can be seen sitting at the pub alone and checking his phone to see if his date had sent through any updates on her whereabouts after a lengthy wait.

Sadly, the following clip shows the 89-year-old gentleman looking dejected after waiting for an hour and being forced to eat alone. Although, this was not the first time that GrandadJoe has been unlucky in love.

Upon viewing some of the 89-year-old’s previous videos, it seems that he had previously married his childhood sweetheart until she eventually left him and married his brother instead.

However, following the death of GrandadJoe’s brother, his former wife and childhood sweetheart reconnected with him and the pair decided to marry again. They remained man and wife until her death in the early 90s.

The video of the elderly man’s failed date has been viewed more than one million times on TikTok, resulting in thousands of comments of support and well wishes.

With more than 6 million followers on the social media platform, GrandadJoe is one of a growing list of seniors that have carved out a niche in the youthful space for themselves.
