Aged care worker assaulted at Melbourne facility by wandering visitor

A rogue visitor has allegedly physically assaulted an aged care workers at a Victorian retirement village.

The female aged care worker approached the male visitor on July 6 at about 7.30am to ask why he was inside the Melbourne facility. 

The 27-year-old worker was left with bruises and scratches after the assault at the village on Wells Road in Aspendale Gardens where the worker followed the visitor into the bin room.

The man then fled out of the facility’s Wells Road exit. Police are still searching for the man.

“Police were told once the man was inside, he grabbed the victim on her upper arms before punching her several times to her head and upper body area,” a police spokesperson told 9 News.

Police have released CCTV and photos, describing the man to be of Asian appearance, aged in his late 20s and spoke with an accent.
