A man has been arrested and charged following a series of assaults and robberies in the car park of Modbury Hospital, Adelaide, on the evening of Monday, 27 May.

The incident has left several individuals injured, including a 90-year-old man who was taken to the ICU after being punched in the head.

The events unfolded shortly before 5.30 pm when police were called to the hospital car park after receiving reports of a man attacking two men and stealing their wallets. The assailant also targeted a woman, snatching her handbag before making his way out of the area.

As the suspect attempted to leave the scene, he was confronted by a security guard. However, the security guard was also assaulted during the confrontation.

The 90-year-old victim suffered facial injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Thankfully, his injuries, while serious, were not deemed life-threatening. The other two male victims were also treated for their injuries at the hospital.

Police patrols, with the assistance of Police Dog Axe, immediately began a search for the suspect. Their investigation quickly led them to a residence in Ridgehaven, where the suspect was apprehended.

The arrested individual, a 36-year-old man, has been charged with multiple offences, including two counts of robbery, two counts of assault causing harm, theft, and assault.

He has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 28 May.
