Contact tracing for aged care workers

During the COVID-19 pandemic, contact tracing has become an essential tool to prevent the spread of the virus, particularly in workplaces such as aged care where support staff can come into close contact with seniors who are vulnerable to infection.

MePACS Solo for Duress is now available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch or via an App. With contact tracing, GPS and 24/7 emergency response, it’s an intuitive and powerful alarm wearable that is designed to keep teams connected and safe.

How does contact tracing work?

Contact tracing involves identifying people who may have tested positive for COVID-19 and the people they came in contact with to trace and prevent the spread of this virus between individuals, workplaces and communities.

How does the MePACS Solo use contact tracing?

MePACS Solo provides insights to businesses to protect their people and improve productivity. For example, we’ll say that John is an aged care worker and often visits senior clients at home or a residential facility and then reports back to his team at their offices. He wears the MePACS Solo in case of a duress situation where he would need emergency assistance for himself or a client.

John has tested positive for COVID-19 and lets his employer know before self-isolating.

As John wore the MePACS Solo watch or had the app on his work phone, his business can identify who John has been in contact with and anyone who has been in the same places as him today or retrospectively. With Geo Fencing technology, it can also determine the site or area of the community that John has been working in, how frequently and how long he has been there.

With a report obtained from the MePACS Solo platform on John’s contact history, the business can then confidentially inform his colleagues and any places that John has been in contact with, so staff can be tested and self-isolate and the offices can be sanitised. This ensures other sites and areas of the business keep running.

Social distancing is another important factor that helps prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Short questionnaires can be created and sent to staff via the App prior to starting their shift to ensure they comply with PPE and hygiene regulations. This is then recorded in the MePACS Solo platform, demonstrating the highest duty of care to staff and residents/clients.

Why choose the MePACS Solo for your team?

With the MePACS Solo for Duress, organisations can continue without compromising their entire operation.

The MePACS Solo comes with a comprehensive 24/7 duress alarm, which connects to a team of trained professionals.

It has a built-in GPS locator and two-way communication with the MePACS team, which can also be accessed via the phone application. If a duress situation were to occur, the alarm can be activated easily by tapping the watch or phone.

If a staff member is visiting clients in the community, they can set a check-in alert which, if not cancelled at the end of the session, will raise an alert to MePACS so we can check on their safety.

The MePACS Solo watch and App also come with fall detection technology. If they are okay, the user has 10 seconds to deactivate the automatic message and then the alert is sent to MePACS.

All of this connects to the same intuitive Solo platform to provide analytics and reporting.

Ensuring the workplace is a safe and supportive environment is one of our main priorities. The MePACS Solo can give individual workers and teams the confidence to get on with their job, and the peace of mind that MePACS is available to help 24/7 with our emergency response team.
