Elderly Man Dies And Wife Hospitalized After Violent Home Invasion

An 86-year-old man has died in hospital after he and his 84-year old wife were viciously targeted in a home invasion in NSW suburb of Cherrybrook on Wednesday night.

It is believed that two masked men burst into the home of Colin and Josephine Saliba at midnight on Wednesday before being threatened and violently assaulted.

Both members of the elderly couple sustained serious injuries in the attack and were taken to Westmead Hospital.

Sadly, 84-year-old Colin Saliba died in hospital and his wife Josephine remains in a serious but stable condition at the hospital.

According to NSW police, nothing was actually stolen from the home of the elderly couple which indicates that this attack was actually targeted.

“We believe that there was some motive and we will form an investigation around that,” said NSW Police Acting Superintendent Anthony Boyd.

It is believed that detectives are now investigating potential motives that involve the couple’s fruit business, and forensic officers and sniffer dogs are searching the family home and surrounding area.

The two attackers are still on the run, and police have labelled this incident a ”cowardly and gutless attack.”
