The Australian Government’s Support at Home program commenced on 1 November 2025 and is already changing how older Australians access support at home. The reforms place stronger emphasis on measurable outcomes such as nutrition, independence and wellbeing, while encouraging flexible, consumer-led care.

For providers, this means delivering effective supports that are simple to administer and easy to evidence. Nutrition is one of the clearest areas where providers can demonstrate impact.

Poor nutrition increases the risk of frailty, hospital admission and loss of independence, yet delivering consistent, high-quality meal support across a diverse client base is operationally challenging. My Choice by Lite n’ Easy provides an evidence-based, low-maintenance option that helps providers meet nutrition objectives without adding to workforce or administrative pressure.

Designed for the Nutritional Needs of Older Australians

My Choice meals were developed by Accredited Practising Dietitians and are prepared by professional chefs. Most meals contain at least 25 grams of protein and balanced portions of vegetables, fibre and carbohydrates to support muscle maintenance and overall wellbeing.

Meals are delivered frozen for safety and convenience and are ready in minutes. The range includes more than 55 menu items, including soups and desserts, giving clients variety and choice while ensuring portion sizes suit smaller appetites. Crucially, My Choice aligns with Support at Home priorities by enabling older Australians to remain nourished and independent, while making it straightforward for providers to include nutritionally robust meal solutions within care plans.

Making Nutrition Compliance Simple for Providers

Under Support at Home funding, clients can use their plan to cover up to 70 per cent of the cost of meal preparation and delivery. This means providers can incorporate Lite n’ Easy into a client’s plan with minimal administrative burden and a clear funding pathway.

Lite n’ Easy is also offering new customers their first delivery free for a limited time when they mention the promo code SAHFREE. Because the meals are dietitian-designed and conveniently delivered, providers do not need to allocate staff time to meal preparation or supervision.

That reduces operational complexity while still delivering evidence-based nutrition outcomes that can be reported against the new program’s quality expectations.

What Clients Say

The real impact of a simple meal solution is best understood through the experiences of older Australians who use it.

“I had never been a very good cook and had a very limited repertoire in the kitchen. After my wife passed, I continued to rely on Lite n’ Easy dinners for good nutrition and then also started to include some of the new My Choice range of dinners, specifically made for us oldies. Having these meals prepared for me makes sure I get my protein and vegetable intake for the day, and I can enjoy a tasty meal with no cooking required.” — Graham, QLD

“I was very impressed with the quality and great taste of the Lite n’ Easy meals, particularly the My Choice range. I especially enjoyed that there were so many meals to choose from, all designed for the elderly to be the right size for our appetites and also cater for all our dietary needs in terms of protein, fibre, vegetables, etc.” — Renate, SA

“Lite n’ Easy has made it simple to enjoy nutritious meals without added stress, supporting my independence at home.” — Liz, SA

“After my husband passed away, preparing meals became an emotional and physical challenge. Lite n’ Easy helped remove that burden. I no longer worry about what to cook, and I know I am eating balanced meals that support my health. My goal has been to maintain strength and good health as I age, and Lite n’ Easy has helped me do just that.” — Loma, QLD

“I still love my food. The My Choice meals are delicious, easy to prepare, and my aged care package covers most of the cost, which allows me to order every week.” — Bill, 85, NSW

These testimonials illustrate how meal delivery can deliver both clinical benefits and improved wellbeing. For many clients, the reassurance of dependable, nutritious meals reduces carer burden and supports continued ageing in place.

A Partner in Outcomes-Driven Care

With Support at Home now in operation, providers will be judged on tangible outcomes. Partnering with trusted, evidence-based services such as Lite n’ Easy helps providers demonstrate improvements in client nutrition and independence while reducing operational strain.

My Choice by Lite n’ Easy is designed to complement a provider’s role rather than complicate it. The service offers dietitian-approved meals, flexible ordering and home delivery so providers can focus on clinical and social supports that require skilled staff, while outsourcing nutrition delivery to a specialist provider.

  1. Of course the government would praise this propaganda! Removing funding for Meals on Wheels in so many districts is a cop out for them.

These Lite’nEasy meals are delivered weekly. No longer is there a friendly face at your door daily, with a hot meal, a smile and making sure you’re okay.

Too bad if you’re not home when the delivery is made – depending where you live, chances are it will get stolen before you get to it.

This government is lazy and negligent of the ageing population. It’s almost like they don’t think they’ll ever get old and need services they blatantly ruin.

  2. Sounds wonderful, however there is no catering for special diets. I need a low Fodmap diet, particularly no onions, not available, what about gluten free for coeliacs,no nuts, eggs, fish etc for individual allergies. Sorry this is not catering for a large section of the aged.
